McCloud Activities & Attractions

Summer Recreation:
Golfing at its finest is available at one of our area's four golf courses; hiking and backpacking at Mt. Shasta, Castle Lake, and McCloud River Falls; access to the Pacific Crest trail is nearby as well as Clear Creek and Brewer Creek Wilderness trailheads; fly fishing and trout fishing is legendary at the Nature Conservancy, McCloud River, McCloud Lake or the nearby Sacramento River; boating, water skiing and swimming is easily accessed at McCloud Reservoir and the McCloud River with Lake Siskiyou also nearby; mountain biking, rock climbing, and scenic ski lift rides are some of the summer activities available at Mt. Shasta Ski Park located just 6 miles away.

Unique Dining and fun train excursions on McCloud Railway's Excursion or Dinner Train -- rides starting June 1st, every Saturday throughout the summer. The Historic Dining Car runs all year. Explore three beautiful waterfalls as well as nearby attractions such as Mt. Lassen, Lava Beds National Monument, Medicine Lake Highlands and Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge featuring spectacular bird watching opportunities -- all offer memorable experiences!

Winter Recreation:
Enjoy Downhill Skiing, Snowboarding, and Cross County Skiing  -- all within quick and easy access with the Mt. Shasta Ski Park only 6 miles away! Snowmobile park with miles of backcountry trails offering spectacular natural beauty with majestic Mt. Shasta as a towering backdrop. Snowshoe and hiking trails are also abundant throughout the area as well as sledding on our famous "Snowman's Hill."  After a thrilling day spent enjoying our magnificent outdoor recreation opportunities, curl up and relax by the fire in one of our roomy and cozy vacation homes. A winter wonderland await you!

McCloud Activities:
Be sure to stroll through the McCloud Historic District in downtown McCloud for a view "back in time." Shopping in our friendly and quaint stores and gift shops is a pleasurable way to bring home your memories. A multitude of fine restaurants are available in McCloud and the surrounding area for your dining pleasure. McCloud annual events include the Lumberjack Fiesta, Annual Flea Market, Civil War Reenactment, Heritage Days, Octoberfest, and Old Fashioned Christmas.
